Open Rehearsal

Reading Haydn Choir – Open Rehearsal – 5th September 2024

An invitation to members of the public, interested in choral singing, to find out what it’s like to sing with us and, maybe, to join our choir.

The Reading Haydn Choir, founded in 1970, is a mixed choir (SATB) with a current membership of around 55 singers. We are united by our commitment to setting high standards for our singing, whilst being a supportive and friendly group

We strive for excellence in our performances, most of which include professional instrumentalists and soloists. We normally perform three or four concerts each year in the Reading area, singing a wide variety of music including liturgical works, both classical and modern, jazz, folk and popular songs, as well as Christmas carols once a year.

Periodically we hold Open Rehearsals when members of the public, with an interest in singing choral music, come along for free to one of our Thursday rehearsals.  They sing with the choir as we practise, chat with choir members over refreshments and experience for themselves how the choir works and whether they would like to join us as new members.

Our next Open Rehearsal will be on September 5th at 7.45 pm.  This will mark the start of our Autumn Term.  We'll be practising CPE Bach's Magnificat and Haydn's Maria Theresa Mass which we’ll be performing at our Autumn Concert on Saturday 16th November.   The rehearsal will be at our regular venue, St Joseph’s College, Upper Redlands Road, Reading RG1 5JT.  If you don't have the scores, don't worry. If you let us know in advance, we'll provide them for you for the Open Rehearsal.

If you are interested in coming along, please contact (who will be the contact?) via email at rdghaydnchoir@gmail.com
